ESPN Chicago’s Wes Morgan confirmed that Notre Dame linebacker and leading tackler Manti Te’o did break his nose in Saturday’s game against Army, but will play next week against USC at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
Irish coach Brian Kelly said on a teleconference with reporters that the sophomore linebacker had his nose set Sunday and would be cleared to play at USC.
Good news for the Irish faithful. Beating USC at the Coliseum will be a tall task, but it’d be near impossible without Te’o.
Te’o had six solo tackles and nine total tackles against Army, breaking his nose in the collision on his final tackle. Te’o ranks 13th nationally with 117 tackles on the season.
