Notre Dame secured a commitment from three-star quarterback Everett Golson today, Irish Illustrated reports. More analysis and a highlight tape after the jump.
Golson had been committed to North Carolina since February but started looking at other options as the Tar Heels football program dealt with an NCAA investigation.
Notre Dame evaluated Golson prior to his original commitment and re-entered the mix once the three-star prospect started considering alternatives to North Carolina. The Irish hosted Golson on an official visit during the Utah game weekend and made their intentions clear.
Despite missing time due to a wrist injury, Golson has thrown 22 touchdowns to just one interception this season at Myrtle Beach High School. As a junior, Golson threw for 3,529 yards, 47 touchdowns and just three interceptions. Golson is a phenomenal athlete with an extremely strong arm. He intends to walk onto the basketball team as well.
Golson will graduate high school in December and enroll at Notre Dame in January.
