Notre Dame lacrosse season wrap-up

The men’s lacrosse season ended in heart break fashion, with a 7-5 loss to the Duke Blue Devils. At the end of the season our fighting Irish ended with an 11-3 record, with losses to University of North Carolina, Sryacuse, and Duke. The Irish lacrosse team got to the quarterfinals.

Notre Dame is losing key players in David Earl and Zach Brenneman, both seniors who have just graduated. Those two seniors did not score in the quarterfinal game even though they have carried the team throughout the season.

On a good note we are keeping our starting goalie, John Kemp, who is a junior next year. He should have a phenomenal season next year after having a good season this year.

I believe that next year The fighting Irish should have a fantastic season with returning players like Westy Hopkins and Sean Rodgers who both had 18 goals in the season. West is only a freshmen so hopefully we get 3 more years of his excellent attack skills. Another excellent freshmen is Liam O’ Connor who picked up 41 ground balls this season.

With a fast past offense and solid defense I know Notre Dame can be a big contender for winning the 2012 lacrosse championship. Go Irish!
