Notre Dame Softball Reaches Semi-finals in Big East Tournament; Loose Early in NCAA Softball Championship

Your 45-9 Notre Dame softball team made it all the way to the semi-finals of the conference tournament but fell just short of making the conference finals. The number one seeded Irish were blanked by number five seed Louisville 6-0.

Notre Dame’s offense could not get anything going against starter Tori Collins, who went a stellar 7 innings with 4 hits and no runs allowed. The offense of the Irish went a disappointing 4-24 with no runs scored. To make matters worse, none of our ladies had a multi-hit game. Which is uncommon of the Irish. Starter Brittany O’ Donnel went 2 innings allowing 5 hits and 4 earned runs. The Irish just couldn’t responded that day.

Notre Dame attempted to rebound in the Super Regionals of the NCAA Tournament but could never get anything going.  They went 1-2 in the bracket and lost to Kentucky who finished first in the group, going 3-0. A heartbreaking way to end the season after being ranked in the top 25 for most of the season and having many experts prediciting them to do well. Better luck next season girls!
