Andre Jones dies at 42

Father of reciever T.J. Jones and member of 1988 national championship team, Andre Jones died recently due to a brain aneurysm. Andre was only 42.

Andre played outside linebacker for Coach Holtz from ’87-’91. He had 147 career tackles and was selected by the Steelers in the 1991 NFL draft. After Pittsburgh, he played for the Lions and also a team in the Canadian Football League.

T.J. Jones, a sophmore at Notre Dame, had 23 receptions for 306 yards last year for the Irish. He averaged 13.3 yards per catch and scored 3 touchdowns. His best game was against Navy when he had 5 catches for 53 yards and 1 touchdown.

Many former players and current players of Notre Dame have reached out to T.J. via twitter to show their support.

Former nose guard Ian Williams tweeted:

“I’m sorry … everything happens for a reason…even if we dont know why or dont expect it… Love you bro! You got all of us!”

Manti Te’o also twetted:

”stay strong! If u need anythin u know we all got u! Love u bro.”

I truly believe this is what makes ND special. When there is hardship, we all stand together and fight whatever comes our way. Whether its good or bad, Notre Dame until the end.

Rest In Peace Andre Jones.
