Settlement on death of Notre Dame student

The death of Declan Sullivan was tragic and horid. It was a sad day for all of Notre Dame. Declan was videotaping Notre Dame’s football practice on October 27th, when the hydraulic scissor lift he was on toppled over in extremely high winds. Notre Dame has made commitments to a memorial for him, as well as paying $42,000 in settlement (with the state) and will work with the government to have lift-awareness practices performed.

Declan’s uncle wrote in an email:

“There can be no better way to remember Declan than to help others avoid future tragedies.”

When I first heard the news, I was in shock. It was completely avoidable and unexcuseable by our football program. Obviously no one wanted this to happen, but I still think this could have not happend.
