With Notre Dame on a bye week. Head Coach Brian Kelly allowed players to go home after practice today, giving them a break from football for the weekend.
The idea will hopefully recharge the Irish and allow them to go head on for the rest of the season.
See more after the jump…
“One is mentally you gotta get your players some rest. It’s not just physical. Everybody seems to think that the physical element, these guys are in a pretty good place. It was 80-something degrees on Saturday and you didn’t see much fatigue from either team because we’re already physically acclimated. So I’ve always felt it’s the mental end of things that you look for both in your players and your coaches that’s important as well.” -Brian Kelly via ESPN
Although I think it is good for the players to stay on campus with the team, the players need a break in order to be fully prepared for a crazy 3 months ahead of them. Hopefully starting with a win against USC and finishing off in a BCS game. Thus time will also help heel any tweaks or minor injuries players may have.
Hopefully players will be ready to go to work when they come back. USC will certainly bring a test to them.
