After a rough game against Stanford, the Irish may have learned something that will help them down the road. They learned that Andrew Hendrix has a future at Notre Dame. Not just because he’s a quarterback Brian Kelly actually recruited, but he has some talent and leadership qualities that make him stand out.
Andrew was put in after halftime (permanently) to give the Irish a spark.Even though he plyed wel, in my opinion, he is not the immediate answer. I still have faith in Tommy Rees and what he can do. Has Tommy made good decisions every time he has the ball? No, he’s still learning. He needs to be given the proper coaching for a whole season. He is still a junior and proved last season he’s a big game winner. Just because Coach Kelly brought in Andrew doesn’t mean he will be the starter for the bowl game later in December.
Andrew did showed me that he can play, no matter the score or circumstance. He gave the Irish a spark they desperately needed. Something Rees wasn’t providing. Here was his statistics from the game.
|Notre Dame Passing|
For only playing one half, I’d say it wasn’t a bad first game for him. Something Notre Dame can definitely work with.
Will Hendrix be the answer later on? Quite possibly he can be. But, I know one thing is for sure, he can play ball.
