Notre Dame vs Florida State, what did we learn?

I know it was only the Champs Sports Bowl, but I still can’t get over the fact that the Irish gave up 18 unanswered points to lose a game that they had in the bag. Here’s what brought them down and caused them to lose the way they did.

Quarterback turnovers-

Do I even need to say more? Tommy Rees and Andrew Hendrix showed me a lot yesterday. They showed me that they do not have what it takes to lead this team when it matters most. Our defense cannot be put in bad situations late in the game like they were when Hendrix threw that interception in the fourth quarter. I think we will see more of Everett Golson next year as he will surely be given a stronger chance at the starting job.

Getting to the quarterback late in games-

This has been another problem the Irish have had all year. I was extremely impressed with the way Notre Dame attacked the quarterback in the first half. But, our pass rush was nowhere to be found after that. It seemed like Florida State knew exactly where the blitz was coming from and they executed perfectly. I have to tip my hat to the way the Seminoles offensive line played when it mattered most.

Obviously there are things they can work on, but I can garuntee you that withour a quarterback that can mamage a game and come through in the clutch, nothing else will matter.
