USC running back Amir Carisle to transfer to Notre Dame

Amir Carsile was deciding between playing for USC or Notre Dame last year. Unfortunately, he selected the Trojans over the Irish. But Notre Dame got their revenge because Amir has decided to transfer to Notre Dame.

The South Tribune reported Saturday of this great news.

“It’s a great catch for Notre Dame,” CBS College Sports recruiting analyst Tom Lemming said. “Carlisle was a bona-fide star coming out of California. He could be the impact back they’ve been looking for.”

Should Notre Dame fans be excited?

Of course we should be! Anytime someone comes from a rival and joins our side is great. It obviously shows that he lost interest in the program and saw a better opportunity at South Bend. He didn’t have breakout numbers, but his natural talent is something Brian Kelly can work with.

He didn’t get touches every game, but he did have one game against Colorado where he had 10 carries for 90 yards rushing. So, he has the capability to do well.

He will have to sit out next season due to NCAA transfer rules, but he will have 3 years of eligibility left when he returns in 2013.

This is definitely something to be excited about. Let’s go Irish!
