As a Notre Dame basketball fan, I love seeing Irish “ballers” in the NBA. It makes me proud our program when players leave the team (hopefully after their senior year) for the NBA Draft. Last year’s star that lead the Irish to a number 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, Ben Hansbrough, has moved on from last year and is now playing professional basketball. He’s not an NBA player, he’s playing oversea’s in Europe.
“I got a great offer,” he told the South Bend Tribune by cell phone. “It’s just something that I couldn’t pass up. I feel good about it.”
I know this was news back in July, but I just wanted to refresh everyone on this subject. It’s always nice to see our players play professional basketball. I wish Ben would have been selected in the NBA Draft so we all can see him mature as a player, but the experience he will gain from the German League will be beneficial in the end. Hopefully, another NBA team will give him a second chance to try-out.
Best of luck to Ben on his future with professional basketball.
