Tomorrow night, the Notre Dame men’s basketball team will look to get revenge on a very young and talented Rutgers that took down the Irish last time they faced each other. Notre Dame needs this win to stay ranked in the top 25.

National Attention:

Like I just stated, Notre Dame has been recognized for their impressive winning streak against Big East teams. Being ranked means that your a quality team that deserves credit for what you have done recently. The higher you are up in the rankings, the higher the respect others have for you (also the higher the target is on your back!). The Irish can easily be in the top 20 if they win this week against Rutgers and Villanova (Saturday). This credit pleases freshman guard Eric Atkins.

“It’s really an accomplishment for us, especially coming from where we were in conference play. It really does feel good to have our whole season turn around like that.” -Eric Atkins

I am extremely happy to  be an Irish fan. They prove to the world that a team effort can still win basketball games, not just individual skill. Now, let’s get back to the game.

Players to watch for:

For Rutgers, check out Eli Carter. This guard (freshman), was the only player who played over 30 minutes in Rutgers’ loss to SentonHall last Saturday. He can easily get 10-15 points a night if you’re not careful with him on defense. He will run their offense and I look for him to be the key factor for Rutgers.

For Notre Dame, once again, Jack Cooley will be a deciding factor as to whether or not they will win. He is capable of getting 20 points and 10 rebounds tomorrow if he’s on his “A” game. For ND’s sake, let’s hope it happens.
