Tonight, the Fighting Irish will take on the Villanova Wildcats tonight for a must win game to keep up with or even pass Marquette. Currently, Marquette is playing UCONN (12pm ET on ESPN). A loss by Marquette would make this game crucial to ND getting that doulble bye in the Big East Tournament.
Villanova at home:
This year, Villanova is 9-3 at home. Luckily for them, they will be home tonight against the Irish. However, they have lost all 3 games during Big East play. Home court advantage should not be a problem for the Irish, as they have been road tested too many times this season.
Players to watch:
For Villanova, Mouphtaou Yarou will be the man to watch. The junior center can have a 15 point, 10 rebound night if the Irish aren’t careful. The match-up betwenn Yarou and Jack Cooley will definitely be a great one. The winner of this match-up will probably be the factor for his team.
For Notre Dame, Eric Atkins will be vital for the team. His minutes on the court will be important. Mainly becuase he plays almost the entire game. I hope he can get around 8 assists because if he can distribute the ball effectively, then Villanova will not have an answer for the Irish half court offense.
