Notre Dame comes from behind to beat Villanova, 74-70 in overtime

Disappointed, nervous, “pumped up”- all describe how I was feeling throughout Notre Dame’s great comeback against a young Villanova team. Notre Dame was down as many as 20 and seemed like they never woke up from the ride to Philadelphia. However, the Irish had a violent comeback led by the guards Jerian Grant and Eric Atkins.

Cool Coach, Cool Team:

Despite being down by double digits in the second half, head coach Mike Brey never lost his temper and was always believing they would comeback.

“It’s a great win for a group that really believes in itself.” -Mike Brey

The players never looked down on themselves, they kept grinding when things weren’t looking good. The confidence in each player on the court grew as the game went on, peaking at the right moment (the end of the game). I’m still shocked at this result, and I am very proud of the way this team has come together when they need it most.

Cooley does it again:

For the 4th straight game, Jack Cooley had a double-double in points and rebounds. He had 18 points and 13 rebounds. He wasn’t the star of the night, but he certainly did his part.

A great day to be an Irish fan, this team never quits. And they’ll look to extend their wining streak to 9 against West Virginia on Wednesday.
