Tomorrow will be the beginning of what will be great a great month for basketball fans. For Notre Dame, hopefully it will be a successful month. As for now, let’s break down the opening round games for the Big East men’s tournament.

#9 Connecticut vs #16 DePaul: 12pm ET on ESPN

A DePaul win would definitely be the upset of the day. UCONN has struggled this season (8-10 in conference play) but I expect them to run over DePaul, who only has won 3 games in the conference. Last time these teams played, UCONN won 80-54, and I expect the score to be about the same.

#13 Pittsburgh vs #12 St. John’s: 2pm ET on ESPN

This will be the game of the day in my opinion. Both teams have had a mediocre season. Pitt underachieved while St. John’s never really caught fire. I’m expect each team to grind this game out in hopes of running the table to make the NCAA Tournament. St. Johns has the upper hand in my opinion, and that’s who I see winning this game.

#15 Providence vs #10 Seton Hall: 7pm ET on ESPN

This game will be the boring game of the day. Neither team scores a lot of points and both haven’t performed well this year (Seton Hall is 19-11 while Providence is 15-16). I don;t expect this game to produce too much excitement, but if it’s close at the end, I can most definitely see overtime as being a real possibility. I am predicting an upset here by Providence beating Seton Hall and advancing to the second round.
