Pittsburgh has made the Big East tournament for the last 3 seasons as either the 1 or 2 seed, and have lost after their first game all 3 times. Well, entering this game as the #13 seed, you’d think it’d be the same result. But guess what, we were wrong.
Pitt shocked Saint John’s in a semi-blowout game, 73-59. Ashton Gibbs of the Panthers had 20 points to help send them to the second round.
“I think we’ve gotten better the last couple of weeks and it’s a good sign as we go forward here,” Pitt coach Jamie Dixon said. “We’ve got to defend and I think we did that today and we’ll continue to do that as we go forward tomorrow.” -ESPN.com
Tomorrow, Pitt will be playing Georgetown, the number 5 seed. I hope Pittsburgh upsets them because I don’t know if Notre Dame can beat the Hoyas (in the finals).
