Notre Dame pitched well. They took no hitters into the 6th and 8th innings each game. But, it wasn’t enough. Seton Hall scored late to win both games. The Irish held a 3-2 lead with two outs in the bottom of the ninth of the opener, but Zack Granite’s two-strike, RBI double off Notre Dame sophomore closer Dan Slania.
In the second game, Notre Dame took a 2-0 lead into the 8th; but yet again, failed to close it out. A double by Dillon Hamlin and back to back singles by Zach Granite and Mike Genovese gave the Pirates the tie. The Pirates ending winning the game in the 11th inning to take both games.
The Irish will look to rebound after the dramatic losses on Saturday when Pat Connaughton takes the mound at 12:10pm ET against Seton Hall.
