Yet another Notre Dame player runs into alcohol-related trouble.
DaVaris Daniels, sophomore wide-receiver for UND, was cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor on May 13, according to police records in Vernon Hills, Ill.
30 underage drinkers were cited at the same party as Daniels. Police said they were responding to a call for an ambulance when “all subjects were found to be participating in an underage party and had consumed alcohol while under the age of 21.”
In response to what happend, here’s what head coach Brian Kelly said on Daniels’s arrest.
“I’m aware of the citation DaVaris received and will be speaking with him about the matter,” Irish coach Brian Kelly said in a statement released late Wednesday. “Any team-related discipline that may be forthcoming will be handled internally.” -Chicago Tribune
This is the 3rd legal problem the Irish have had to face this year. Quarterback Tommy Rees and Carlo Calabrese were arrest after police broke-up a party just outside of Notre Dame campus.
DaVaris Daniels was expected to play a major role in the Irish offense next season. Despite not playing last year, Daniels could fill the void created by former wide-out Michael Floyd.
What happens here? Does Brian Kelly have to make an example of these 3 players?
