Editor’s Note: These are the current Top 5 Targets for Notre Dame Recruiting in the opinion of Slap the Sign and its writers. The Top 5 Targets are determined on a basis of how well Notre Dame likes a certain recruit and how well they like Notre Dame. This list is updated weekly with the odds (Very likely, Likely, In Between, Unlikely and Very Unlikely) of whether or not the recruit will choose Notre Dame.

Al-Quadin Muhammad, Weakside Defensive End, Don Bosco Prep

Odds: Very Likely

Most Don Bosco players make their decisions following their season. This recruitment could be similar to Freshman and Don Bosco Prep product Elijah Shumate. Muhammad may select Notre Dame sometime in January as well.

“Rumors are strong that Muhammad is a heavy lean to Notre Dame and may make his decision after the season. What was once thought to be a close race between the Scarlet Knights and Fighting Irish now appears to be a strong lead for the latter and the Irish are sitting very pretty right now. He would play a hybrid OLB/DE role at Notre Dame.” –Mike Farrell, Rivals.com

Khalfani Muhammad, Running Back, Notre Dame

Odds: In Between

Khalfani Muhammad would probably commit to Notre Dame now if Brian Kelly and the staff would accept it. However, the staff is most likely slow playing him in an attempt to get another player.

“Running back Khalfani Muhammad of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame took an official recruiting visit to the University of Notre Dame on Saturday, and his father, Malik, said, “It was a wonderful experience.” –LA Times

L.J. Moore, Cornerback, Central East

L.J. Moore seems to like Notre Dame a lot. It probably comes down into in-state UCLA and Notre Dame. Notre Dame may be the better choice but it is always difficult to unseat the in-state school.

Odds: In Between

“Moore has already visited Notre Dame and plans to see Oklahoma, Oregon State and UCLA. We keep hearing the Bruins are in good shape here, but in recruiting, anything can happen.” –Adam Gorney, Rivals.com

“When it comes down to it, I see Notre Dame being the best option for the 4-star defensive back.” –Bleacher Report

Max Redfield, Safety, Mission Viejo

Redfield just visited Notre Dame and was impressed. However, it seems like Redfield is still likely to be a Trojan or to choose another school such as Washington or LSU.

Odds: Unlikely

“One visit to Notre Dame helped grease the door hinges of Redfield’s recruitment and now the senior safety will have to decide if he wants to pull it open or push it closed.” –Tyler James, South Bend Tribune

Issac Savaiinaea

Savaiinaea definitely knows how good he could be at Notre Dame. But, it is a long way to go. If Anzalone decommits from Notre Dame, the Irish could put the full press on for Savaiinaea.

Odds: In Between

“A path from Punahou to Notre Dame already has been paved by the Irish linebacker and wide receiver and now Savaiinaea wants to see for himself the program that’s allowed Te’o and Toma to be so successful.” –Tyler James, South Bend Tribune
