Navy Midshipmen (7-4): The Midshipmen defeated Texas State, one of the newest editions to FBS, 21-10 on Saturday in Navy Memorial Stadium. Navy dominated the line of scrimmage again. They ran for 407 yards on 62 attempts. Navy Fullback Noah Copeland ran for 110 yards on 17 carries and 2 touchdowns. Senior Gee Gee Greene rushed for 71 yards for 14 carries and 1 touchdown. To illustrate how good Navy’s rushing attack was, the Midshipmen passed for 35 yards. Navy still ran for 407 yards when Texas State knew it was coming

Purdue Boilermakers (5-6): The Purdue Boilermakers beat the Illinois Fighting Illini, 20-17, in Champaign, Illinois. Robert Marve played the majority of the game for the Boilermakers. He threw for 173 yards on 18 of 26 passing with 1 touchdown.Akeem Shavers ran the ball for 99 yards on 21 carries. The Illini lost 3 fumbles to the Boilermakers, which really changed the complexion of the game.

Michigan State Spartans (5-6): Michigan State was defeated by Northwestern, 23-20. The Spartans turned the ball over 4 times against the Wildcats. Northwestern stayed turnover free. The Spartans out gained the Wildcats 419-303. Quarterback Andrew Maxwell threw for 297 yards on 22 of 46 passing. La’Veon Bell ran for 133 yards on 32 carries.

Michigan Wolverines (8-3): Michigan defeated Iowa, 42-17, in Michigan Stadium. Devin Gardner started the game for the Michigan Wolverines. He threw for 314 yards on 18 of 23 passing with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. One interesting development from this game was that Dernard Robinson started the game at Running Back. He ran for 98 yards on 13 carries. He led the team in rushing. Michigan had 513 total yards on Offense.

Miami (FL) Hurricanes (6-5): The Hurricanes crushed in-state South Florida by the score of 40-9. They out gained the Bulls 548-358. Stephon Morris threw for 413 yards on 21 of 32 passing with 3 touchdowns. The Hurricanes Defense forced 3 turnovers. Duke Johnson ran for 66 yards on 13 carries and 1 touchdowns.

Stanford Cardinal (9-2): The Cardinal upset the #2 ranked Oregon Ducks, 17-14, in overtime. Stanford dominated time of possession, 37:05 to 22:55. The total yards were nearly the same, 411-405. Kevin Hogan threw for 211 yards including the game-tying fourth-quarter touchdown for Stanford. Stanford Running Back Stepfan Taylor rushed for 161 yards on 33 carries or a 4.9 yards average.

Brigham Young Cougars (6-5): The Cougars were defeated by the San Jose State Trojans 20-14 on Saturday. Quarterback Riley Nelson threw for 335 yards on 28 of 51 passing. The Cougars were hampered by 3 turnovers. BYU only rushed for 87 yards against Trojans as well.

Oklahoma Sooners (8-2): The Oklahoma Sooners defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers by a 1-point margin on Saturday in Morgantown, West Virginia. The Mountaineers failed to convert two-point conversions and extra points that led to the 50-49 defeat. Defense was definitely lacking in this ball game. Oklahoma had 662 yards of total Offense while West Virginia had 778 yards. Landry Jones threw for 554 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Pittsburgh Panthers (4-6): The Pittsburgh Panthers can keep their bowl hopes alive next Saturday with a game against the 19th ranked Rutger Scarlet Knights.

Boston College (2-9): The Boston College Eagles fell in overtime to the Virginia Tech Hokies. Boston College stayed in the game despite being out gained 401

USC Trojans (7-4): The Trojans were upset by city rival UCLA, 38-28. Quarterback Matt Barkley was injured during the game. Barkley threw for 303 yards with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Curtis McNeal ran for 161 yards on 21 carries. Despite out gaining the Bruins, the Trojans committed 3 turnovers that ultimately cost them the game.
