Diaco On The Move?

Bob Diaco won the Frank Broyles Award after leading the Nation’s top scoring Defense. Diaco did not need to win an award for confirmation that he is one of the hottest commodities in the coaching world. Despite not being selected for the positions at either Purdue or Boston College, Diaco is still on the short list for several positions. So, Notre Dame fans are not “out of the woods” yet.

Diaco interviewed for the vacant coaching position at Temple on Monday. Several candidates have also interviewed for this job including Eagles Defensive Coordinator Todd Bowles, former Florida International Coach Mario Cristobal and San Jose State Head Coach Mike MacIntyre. If Diaco was offered the position, it seems unlikely that Diaco would take such a low profile position.

Diaco draws an excellent comparison with current Florida Head Coach Will Muschamp. When Muschamp was the Defensive Coordinator at Texas, he was in high demand like Diaco currently is. Muschamp turned down several positions before he finally accepted one of the best in the nation. It seems like Diaco’s path is on a similar trajectory.

Rumors surfaced on Twitter on Tuesday night that Diaco was headed to Madison, Wisconsin to interview for the open position at Wisconsin. Wisconsin has been a consistent power inside the Big 10 in recent years. This is a school that Diaco could make the jump to.

It is interesting to note that Diaco out on the road recruiting Tashawn Bower in Georgia recently. Why would he be out on the road if he was about to bolt to another destination? Diaco is probably not on the move. He might be waiting for an opening at his alma mater Iowa or a more intriguing offer.
