Bob Diaco was an All-Big Ten selection twice at Iowa in 1994 and 1995. During both of those years, he was the team’s leading tackler. He finished his career as the seventh leading tackler in Iowa history. His path could be headed back to Iowa soon.
Current Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz has been rumored to be the next Head Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. As these Twitter reports indicate, if current General Manager Scott Pioli returns to Kansas City, Ferentz would probably be his top candidate.
Ferentz last coached in the NFL as an Offensive Line Coach from 1996-1998 for the Baltimore Ravens. Before that, he coached in Cleveland from 1993-1995. Ferentz has never been a Head Coach in the NFL but has been at Iowa for the past 13 years. At Iowa, he has tallied a record of 100-74.
If the Iowa Head Coaching position would become vacant, Notre Dame’s Bob Diaco would be a perfect fit for the Hawkeyes. He is a great recruiter and one of the hottest names in the coaching world in addition to being an alumnus of the school.
According to Peter King, Kirk Ferentz will not be leaving Iowa for the NFL. That is good news for Notre Dame fans. But, until the Chiefs vacancy has been filled, fans will wonder if Diaco could be headed to his Alma Mater.
