Notre Dame Basketball Recap: DePaul 78-Notre Dame 82

It was yet another overtime victory for the Irish. They started out the game fast pushing the basketball and Atkins getting to the basket and making great passes. Atkins also shot the ball well tonight from 3 point range going 3-6. He distributed well with 9 assists, but most of those were in the first half. Cooley had yet another double double with 16 points and 10 boards. Grant led in scoring with 21 points. After Sherman’s performance against Louisville earned him 14 minutes and had 7 points.

Cleveland Melvin had a game high 23 points and once again was the reason that DePaul had a chance in this game. Brandon Young added 20 points and had 6 assists as well. DePaul pushed the ball whenever they had a chance and caught Notre Dame out of position many times.

The key at the end of the game was when the Irish made free throws and tightened up on defense to secure the win. They are now only a half game back of first place in the Big East.
