Notre Dame enters the Big East Tournament as the 7th Seed in Joe Lundari’s Bracketology. The ESPN expert currently has the Fighting Irish playing Colorado in Dayton, which is in the East Region.

Jerry Palm of CBSSports.com also has Notre Dame as a 7th seed. He has the Irish playing Temple in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The Fighting Irish are currently ranked as the 24th team in the Associated Press poll. Additionally, Notre Dame is ranked 44th in the RPI. They have five wins against the RPI Top 50 (Kentucky, @Cincinnati, Louisville, @Pittsburgh, Cincinnati).

Notre Dame has an opportunity to improve their seeding in the Big East Tournament. The Fighting Irish may play Marquette, Louisville and Georgetown on the path to a Big East championship. Victories against these RPI Top 50 teams would definitely improve Notre Dame’s seeding.

Last year, the Irish were a 7th seed. The year before that the Irish were a 2nd seed. However, the Irish have failed to make it further than the second round. This year, the Irish will be attempting to get to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2003.
