Gunner Kiel may have found a landing spot with former Auburn and Texas Tech Head Coach Tommy Tuberville in Cincinnati. According to Tom Groeschen of the Cincinnati Enquirer and his tweet below, Gunner Kiel may complete the transfer process with a jump to the Queen City.

@TomGroeschen: Gunner Kiel, former 5-star QB recruit who is leaving Notre Dame, was at #UC scrimmage today. Has been in town 2 days #bearcats

@TomGroeschen: A #UC source says the #Bearcats believe they have a good shot at landing Kiel

Munchie Legaux is the presumed starter for the Bearcats. Legaux is a Senior, therefore, theoretically, Kiel will be able to grasp the starting spot after his mandatory Redshirt season.

If Kiel does bolt for Cincinnati, it was clear that he only wanted playing time. Trent Dilfer said on ESPN’s The Herd that Gunner Kiel and the family was entitled. In addition, he was probably looking for the place he could start the earliest. It is possible when that did not work out, he looked at different options.

Cincinnati would be a great choice for Kiel. It is not “big time” football but they still play against solid talent. Considering Kiel may have been considering Ball State and Miami, Cincinnati looks like a powerhouse. Kiel would have a chance to play for Tuberville who developed Jason Campbell. Campbell has not been a tremendous pro but he has at least keep a job. Finally, it appears that Kiel will get what he wants, a starting job.
