Notre Dame has landed an elite Running Back for the second year in a row. This time it was a 5-star Running Back from Charlotte, North Carolina named Elijah Hood. According to Rivals, Hood is the #1 athlete and the #12 prospect overall.
Hood visited South Bend this weekend with his parents. The visit was enough to push the 5-star prospect into committing to the Fighting Irish. He selected the Fighting Irish over the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Hood is a large, bowling ball Running Back at 5’11” 221lbs. He attends the same high school, Charlotte Catholic, as current Notre Dame Offensive Linemen Mark Harrell. Hood is a Running Back in a run-heavy Offense at Charlotte Catholic. In his Sophomore Season, he rushed for 2,868 yards and 45 touchdowns. Hood has the power to run through tackles but the speed to get away from most defenders.
He runs a 4.55 40-yard dash and has a 32 inch vertical. Hood also carries a 3.43 GPA.
The commitment takes the sting out of losing out on 5-star Running Back Sony Michel who committed to Georgia on Friday. Hood is the 8th commitment for Notre Dame in their 2014 class, which is nicknamed “The Golden Army”
