Derek Kief is a unique talent in the Class of 2014. He has the rare combination of size and speed that is not found in many Wide Receivers today. Kief recently released his Top 5 via derekkief.com in a manner as unique as his skill set.
As seen in the graphic on the right, Derek Kief currently has a Top 5 of Notre Dame, Kentucky, Ohio State, Northwestern and Alabama (in no particular order).
Kief will be visiting Alabama and Clemson on June 8th-June 11th. According to Irish Sports Daily, Kief will visit Notre Dame on June 22nd for a 7 on 7 passing tournament.
Kief currently has 22 offers. In his two years of varsity action, he has snared 109 passes for 1519 yards and 16 touchdowns. He has been nominated to play in the US Army All-American Bowl and was a Special Mention All-State (Ohio Division 1).
Kief plays in the Greater Catholic League’s South Division, which makes three schools likely here. Many recruits from the Cincinnati Area end up heading to Columbus to play for the Buckeyes. A strong Kentucky will be a competitor because it is one hour from Cincinnati. Notre Dame is another obvious option because of the Catholic school connection.
Kief has no timetable for a commitment but he could make it at any point. According to his website, he only has two unofficial visits set up for this summer (Alabama/Clemson; Notre Dame).
