Solomon Thomas Announces Top 10

With the potential loss of Eddie Vanderdoes this summer, Notre Dame needs to land elite Defensive Linemen in the class of 2014. Coppell High School Defensive End Solomon Thomas is one of those players. He is consistently ranked within the top 50 of most recruiting services. He has offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas (among others).

Thomas announced a Top 10 via his coach on Twitter yesterday. Notre Dame was a part of that list. His Top 10 was Texas, TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, UCLA, Stanford, Notre Dame, Alabama, Texas A&M, Oregon and Arkansas.

Thomas will visit South Bend on June 10th. Although Texas is the current leader, Notre Dame will have an opportunity to make in roads with the 4-star Defensive End. Currently on the roster is former Coppell star Cam McDaniel, who is competing for time at the Running Back position. He should be able to demonstrate the transition from Texas to northern Indiana for Thomas.

Overall, Notre Dame is fighting up hill here. Texas is a heavy favorite. But, anytime a player visits campus, it increases your odds of landing him or getting him to visit again. There is no precise way to land a recruit. But, the more contact there is with a player, the better chance there is that he will eventually sign with your team.
