Notre Dame Offers Defensive Tackle Lamont Gaillard

Notre Dame is currently trying to address a future depth issue at the Defensive Line position. Currently, the Irish have Louis Nix, Stephon Tuitt, Sheldon Day and others to contribute in the 2013 season. However, because of transfer and graduation, the Fighting Irish may be thin at that position in 2014.

So, the Irish coaching staff is being proactive in offering Rivals 250 Defensive Tackle Lamont Gaillard. Gaillard is a big time Nose Guard out of Fayetteville, North Carolina. At 6’2″ 328lbs, he could fill the shoes of Louis Nix when he exits Notre Dame this year. These types of prospects are hard to find. Gaillard is a must get in the 2014 class.

Gaillard is ranked as the 203rd prospect in the 2014 recruiting class. 247Sports has him as a 5-star prospect. He has offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame and South Carolina. His Junior year, he collected 100 tackles and 4 sacks.

Georgia is currently his leader. With Notre Dame entering the process late, they are fighting an uphill battle. But, at this point, Tuitt and Vanderdoes did not seem like possibilities on the recruiting trail. So, fans will need to wait and see.
