Notre Dame offered DeShone Kizer on June 5th. This followed the commitment of Notre Dame Target Kyle Allen to Texas A&M. With Allen off the board, Notre Dame needed to find other targets that they could pursue. Kizer quickly became one of those targets.
DeShone Kizer is a 6-5, 207lbs from Toledo, Ohio. He plays for Central Catholic High School in Toledo. Kizer is a 2014 Elite 11 Quarterback. He threw for 1147 yards with 10 touchdowns. Additionally, he rushed for 540 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Kizer is a consensus 4-star recruit but is not ranked nationally. However, rankings do not tell the entire story. Kizer has impressive offers from LSU, Notre Dame, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisville and Penn State as well as 12 others.
The Crystal Ball on 247Sports is trending towards Notre Dame. The new prediction tool on the profile page of each player indicates that Kizer is 92% likely to select the Fighting Irish and 8% likely to choose the LSU Tigers.
Landing the Toledo Quarterback would be huge for the Fighting Irish obviously. Kizer has a visit arranged for LSU on June 14th. He intended to visit Alabama on the 13th but cancelled that visit.
