Elijah Hood Competes In SPARQ National Title

Football is not played in shorts and t-shirts. So, the fact that Elijah Hood has one of the top 10 SPARQ scores in the nation really does not mean anything. But, it is a testament to his overall athleticism. It demonstrates that Notre Dame has landed a game-breaker in Hood.

The SPARQ combines 5 typical combine events into one overall athleticism score. The four events were the vertical jump, short shuttle, 40-yard dash, and power ball throw. The score takes in account your height and weight. For example, Hood’s vertical jump is weighted higher than Speedy Noil’s vertical jump because he is bigger than Noil.

Hood was forced to leave the competition late with cramps and did not finish. Do not let that diminish his overall athleticism. If he did not cramp up, he may have finished higher. Earlier this year in the Charlotte NFSC, Hood posted a 108.84 overall score. Lorenzo Carter, a recent visitor and CAT Linebacker prospect, finished 6th in the country. Here is the final Top 10:

Name (SPARQ Rating)
Speedy Noil-153.90
Terry McLaurin-149.88
Nick Chubb-142.59
Trey Marshall-139.62
Braxton Berrios-138.78
Lorenzo Carter-135.06
Edward Paris-133.95
Joey Alfieri-133.32
Tony Brown-128.49
Elijah Hood-DNF
