Fighting Irish commitments took to the field in the finals of “The Opening” 7-on-7 tournament. Hood and Kizer attempted to show that they could compete with the best prospects in the nation.
Elijah Hood, 5’11″, 222 lbs, 4.48 sec
Hood played Running Back but was split out wide several times which demonstrates his flexibility. He had two catches to begin the game and grabbed a two point conversion on the first drive. Throughout the game, it was clear that Hood was critical to the team’s game plan. He has extremely good hands. Hood is definitely better than current Notre Dame Running Back George Atkinson who limits Notre Dame’s play calling ability. Hood demonstrated why he is a 5-star prospect.
DeShone Kizer, 6’5″, 207 lbs, 4.96 sec
Kizer found himself running 3rd behind Quarterbacks Drew Barker and K.J. Carta Samuels. He did find himself on ESPNU but it was mainly snapping the ball to his fellow Quarterbacks. He also finds himself running outside of the Top 11 in the Elite 11. But, it is clear from the comments and videos coming out of Beaverton, Oregon that the Toledo product.
