Notre Dame Football Recruiting "Cover 3": July 3, 2013

1. According to John “Juju Smith” Smith and IrishSportsDaily.com, Notre Dame is one of the favorites for the Long Beach Poly Athlete.

Smith told ISD’s Sean Mele that Notre Dame was clearly one of his favorites because it was his first official visit that was set in stone. John Smith is ranked as the 2nd best Athlete prospect overall by 247Sports. 247Sports sports also has predicted that it is a 3-way battle for Smith’s commitment between Notre Dame, USC and UCLA (36%,36%,27%). For what it is worth, Smith did not mention the Trojans as a school of interest in his interview with ISD. Smith has official visits to Michigan (Nov. 30), Alabama (Nov. 8), Notre Dame (Oct. 18) and Ohio State (Sep. 27). Are the Fighting Irish out in front for the 5-star athlete?

2. Erik Brown commits to Washington but will still visit Notre Dame.

Last night, Brown made his college declaration live on ESPNU’s coverage of “The Opening” when he choose the Washington Huskies. However, Brown told IrishSportsDaily.com that he would still take an official visit to Notre Dame for their matchup against USC.

3. Commitments Brent, Kizer, Hood and Nelson will be in action tonight at 9 p.m.

ESPNU wraps up its coverage of “The Opening” with the Linemen Challenge and the finals of the 7-on-7 tournament. Last night, Irish fans got an excellent at Justin Brent who demonstrated that he could be an outstanding outside Wide Receiver prospect for the Fighting Irish.
