Everett Golson Tells Local News Station He Will Return

Suspended Notre Dame Quarterback Everett Golson told a local Myrtle Beach television station that he will return to the University for the Spring semester. Golson said in an on-camera interview with WPDE, “I will be returning in the spring, that’s pretty much it.” The short interview took place at a celebrity basketball game in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Golson was suspended on May 25th for poor academic judgment. The exact cause of his suspension is unknown and he chose not to speak about it to reporter.

In the video above, Golson does not discuss the specifics of his departure or return to Notre Dame. However, he is clear that the Fighting Irish will have Golson for at least one more year. However, Golson could also play in 2015 as a 5th year Senior. He did not play his Freshman year, which gives him and the University the option of a 5th year.

When Golson returns to Notre Dame, he will face competition from Sophomore Malik Zaire and Freshman DeShone Kizer. Andrew Hendrix could return for a 5th year but his plans are in doubt at this point.

Golson completed 187 of 318 passes for 2,405 yards and 12 touchdowns in Notre Dame’s 2012 undefeated run. He also rushed for 298 yards with 6 TD’s.
