Kyle Gibson, a Safety from Armwood High School in Seffner, Florida, recently announced his Top 5 schools. These schools include Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame, South Florida and Vanderbilt.
Gibson has exploded with offers recently. Since March, he has landed scholarship offers from Ole Miss, West Virginia, Florida State, Boston College, Wisconsin and Miami. Notre Dame offered Gibson on February 22, 2013.
Kyle Gibson was a participant in Nike’s “The Opening” on the first week of July. At “The Opening”, Gibson ran a 4.65 40-yard dash and 4.27 shuttle during SPARQ training. Gibson is ranked as a 4-star recruit by 247, Rivals and ESPN. Scout is the outlier in scouting Gibson. They have him rated as a 3-star recruit.
Gibson had 74 tackles, 4 interceptions and 5 forced fumbles in his 2012 (Junior) season.
Vanderbilt is presumed to be the leader for Gibson’s services at the moment. It is the only school that Gibson has unofficially visited in his Top 5.
Two things can be gleaned from his visit. One, Gibson could be extremely interested in Vanderbilt and that is why he took the time to make that visit. Two, Vanderbilt is his “leader” because he has not had the opportunity to see other schools.
There does not appear to be a timetable for a decision. Notre Dame and Vanderbilt are recruiting Gibson the hardest at the moment. Therefore, Notre Dame probably has a good shot at landing at least an official from the 4-star Safety.
