1. Notre Dame landed a commitment for 2014 Wide Receiver Corey Holmes. As expected, Holmes selected the Irish over the Bruins this past week. Holmes had visited the Irish many times. It was only a matter of time before he made the commitment to the Irish official. He has been described as a “TJ Jones” type player. For some, this is not very exciting. However, Jones has collected 1321 yards in his three years for the Irish. If he continues that pace, he will be in the Top 10 of Notre Dame receivers all-time. If Holmes does this, it will be in an excellent career. But, do not sell Holmes short. He is taller and faster than the Notre Dame Senior Wide Receiver T.J. Jones.
2. John “Juju” Smith sets an Official Visit. One of the Top athletes in the 2014 football recruiting class has solidified a October 18th visit to Notre Dame for their matchup against USC. The Fighting Irish are currently battling with Michigan, Ohio State and Alabama for Smith’s services.
3. The commitment of Holmes moves the Irish to 7th. Holmes’ commitment moves Notre Dame to 7th on Rivals list of Top College Football Recruiting classes. Notre Dame trails Georgia (6th) by a total of 7 points, which is an extremely small margin in these rankings. The Top 5 consists of Tennessee, Miami, Florida State, Kentucky and Texas.
