Kelly Talks Upcoming Camp

Brian Kelly discussed the upcoming Training Camp and season with UND.com reporter Jack Nolan in the video above. Brian Kelly has not had a 4th year in a program since he was at Grand Valley State. Kelly noted that his players are more fit and prepared to play championship football. For example, clear strides were seen with plays like Kapron Lewis-Moore and Zeke Motta after 3 years in the Brian Kelly system. What will 4 years look like for a guy like Bennett Jackson?

Brian Kelly also talked about how this group may not have a clear leader on defense. There are no real strong vocal leaders apparent on the Defensive side. It is definitely correct that the defense will be more of a lead by example type of group.

It was interesting that Kelly said, “Will Andrew Hendrix be able to assist?” It is clear that the Kelly will attempt to use Hendrix in the running capacity like he did in 2011 and against BYU in 2012. If the plan models how Oklahoma used Blake Bell, it may very well work.

Kelly noted “two talented” Running Backs. It is clear that both Folston and Bryant will get an opportunity to play. It may be special teams for Folston but he will definitely see the field.

Head Coach Brian Kelly meets with the media on August 2nd at 12:00 p.m.
