Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Irish Offer S Payton Hendrix

On Tuesday, Brian Kelly extended an offer to Bishop Dunne Catholic Safety Payton Hendrix. He currently favors 4 schools: Arkansas, Iowa, North Carolina and Stanford. The addition of the Fighting Irish may shake up his Top 5.

Hendrix checks in at 6’3″ 190 lbs. He runs a 4.5 second 40 yard dash. Hendrix is ranked as a 3-star recruit by 247Sports and Rivals. He has offers from 20 schools. These offers are from low BCS level schools such as Purdue and mid major schools like SMU. In 2012, he collected 86 tackles, 4 interceptions, 1 forced fumbled and 2 fumble recoveries.

Hendrix is from Dallas, Texas. Notre Dame’s game against Arizona State may serve as an excellent recruiting tool for the Fighting Irish.

However, the Irish are coming into this recruiting battle extremely late. Relationships are key. Arkansas, Iowa, North Carolina and Stanford already have a solid relationships with Hendrix. Sometimes schools are able to offer more than those relationships. Notre Dame is one of those schools. It may be arrogant to be believe that they will land Hendrix but they will definitely be in the mix.
