Carroll High School Prospect Drue Tranquill unofficially visited Notre Dame yesterday. Tranquill is currently committed to Purdue but was impressed by his visit to South Bend.

Notre Dame likes Tranquill at Inside Linebacker. This seems like a stretch for Tranquill. He would need add about 40 pounds. 247Sports ranks Tranquill as the 35th best Safety in the country.

On film, Tranquill is an impressive aggressive athlete. He plays Linebacker and Wide Receiver on his high school team. He does an excellent job at disengaging from the block and making the play. Tranquill looks excellent in pass coverage. Overall, he seems like a player who can contribute on the next level. But, he does not seem like a Linebacker at this point. He could be compare to current Notre Dame Linebacker Dan Fox who was originally a Safety. So, it is possible to make the adjustment and be successful. However, Strong Safety seems like a perfect fit.

The next few days will be important in whether Tranquill flips to Notre Dame. Typically, in a situation where a recruit is considering another school while committed, he will decide immediately following the visit. However, decisions can be made near National Signing Day when the pressure is turned up.
