Notre Dame Football: 2013 Season Predictions

Last year, I was completely wrong about this Notre Dame Football team. I thought 7-5  was a good mark for the Fighting Irish. The schedule seemed too tough and the offense seemed too anemic. But, the Irish finished 12-1 with a trip to the National Championship Game. This was almost the exact opposite of what I predicted.

The talking head of ESPN are not too confident in this Notre Dame football team. Kirk Herbsteit has the Irish winning 9 games. David Pollack predicted that Notre Dame would win 8 games. Who knows what Mark May thinks?

Notre Dame faces another tough schedule with several question marks. However, this team has more depth spread throughout the ranks. The ceiling for this team is about 11-2 with the bowl game. The floor is 7-6 with a bowl game. This team will play very well on Defense again and should be better on Offense. As many people think, this team will be better than last year but sometimes the ball does not bounce your way. The night game at Michigan and the end of the year battle with Stanford seem like hurdles that are too high to clear.

  • Temple…W
  • Michigan…L
  • Purdue…W
  • Michigan State…W
  • Oklahoma…W
  • Arizona State…W
  • USC Trojans…W
  • Air Force…W
  • Navy…W
  • Pittsburgh…W
  • BYU…W
  • Stanford…L

If this plays out, the Irish will most likely land in a BCS Bowl Game. Phil Steele had the Irish playing the Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl. That would be a tough match up for the Fighting Irish. This team will win 10 games one way or another.

Prediction: 10-3
