With another Michigan/Notre Dame rivalry game in the books, Wolverine fans can look forward to Big Ten play with excitement, while Irish fans hold their breath in anticipation of the Sept. 28 showdown with the Oklahoma Sooners and October 19th matchup with USC.

Fighting Irish fans are not unfamiliar with lofty ticket pricing. At an average ticket price of $498 dollars, the Notre Dame/Oklahoma matchup is the second most expensive game this year behind Alabama/Texas A&M, and the fifth most expensive game in college football over the past three years. That’s what happens when you pair the pull of the Irish with the Big 12 demand. Two weeks later, the Sooners take on the Texas Longhorns. Exemplifying the high demand for Oklahoma football tickets and Texas football tickets, that game checks in as the 3rd most expensive of 2013 at an average ticket price of $479.

This year’s showdown with USC on October 19th also ranks quite high as well. At an average price of $446 dollars, it is the ninth most expensive college football game of the past three years. It is clear that following an appearance in the BCS National Championship game, demand for Notre Dame football tickets is through the roof. The Irish have paced the nation in average ticket price up until this week, where they have fallen one spot to #2.

It is interesting to note that while Michigan football tickets typically carry strong demand, and the 2011 matchup between the Wolverines and Fighting Irish checked in as the 8th most expensive game of the past three years, last week’s game did not make the top 10 list.
