The President of the United States currently has a lot of his plate. Syria, Healthcare, Gun Control and the impending government shutdown are just a few things that Obama deals with on a daily basis. Add to that list: the Notre Dame Quarterback situation.

A fan has created a White House petition for Obama to intervene and force Notre Dame to bench Tommy Rees. The petition states:

Since 2010, Tommy Rees has been the downfall of Notre Dame football. This sub-par, should-be-backup quarterback has the pocket tactics of a 10 year-old. It should be considered a violation of Human Rights to force any person to witness the performance Mr. Rees endorses each week.

The petition was created yesterday and currently has 3 signatures, which is 99,997 short of its stated goal. The individual who created the petition is from Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

Several thoughts come to mind: Was this a drunken show of emotion? Was it insanity? Or did someone just want to give Notre Dame fans (and sports fans in general) a good laugh?

If you feel strongly about the prospect of POTUS intervening and presumably making Andrew Hendrix the Notre Dame Quarterback, you can visit the petition here
