2015 Notre Dame Football Recruiting
For multiple recruiting classes, Notre Dame has been seeking the replacement for Louis Nix. Last February, the Irish thought they had landed a potential replacement in Eddie Vanderdoes but he eventually decided to enroll at UCLA. The Irish have repeatedly swung and missed with big time Defensive Tackles.
Notre Dame still has opportunities in the 2014 class with Kentucky DT Matt Elam and New York DT Thomas Holley. However, these players can only be described as 50-50 prospects as best. So, Notre Dame will have to move on to the 2015 class to find what they are looking for.
Today, they offered 2015 Texas Defensive Tackle Daylon Mack. Mack hails from Gladewater, Texas. Mack checks in at 6’2″ 307 lbs. He is rated as a 4-star by Rivals and a 5-star by 247Sports. He has offers from LSU, Texas A&M, Clemson, Notre Dame, TCU, Texas, Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Oregon, SMU, Oklahoma and Texas Tech.
It is clear that Mack would fill the bill of what the Fighting Irish have been looking for. Currently, Mack has a top 6 of LSU, Texas A&M, Clemson, Notre Dame, TCU and Texas although he favors LSU and A&M. Notre Dame’s game against Arizona State will undoubtedly help the Irish get their foot in the door. The staff will have to do the rest.
