2014 Notre Dame Football Recruiting

According to the Twitter page of American Heritage High School, 4-star Wide Receiver Isaiah McKenzie committed to Notre Dame on Friday during a Senior night presentation. This comes as a surprise to Notre Dame nation because it was generally known that McKenzie still need to improve his academics before he could be admitted to Notre Dame.

Isaiah McKenzie is best known for his spectacular kick return that landed him on Sportscenter’s Top 10 plays. McKenzie checks in at 5-9 167 pounds. Despite lacking tremendous size, it is easy to draw comparisons to former Florida Wide Receiver Percy Harvin and former West Virginia Wide Receiver Tavon Austin. A commitment from McKenzie would mean great things for the future of the “Z” position, a spot that is currently occupied by players such as Amir Carlisle.

Although it is not clear yet whether or not the McKenzie has landed the test scores that he needs to be approved by admissions, it is clear that he intends to play his college football at Notre Dame if he is accepted. Despite his lack of size, McKenzie is an explosive player that Notre Dame is currently lacking on the roster. He will become the 3rd Wide Receiver in the 2014 class along with Indiana Wide Receiver Justin Brent and Floridian Corey Holmes.
