Notre Dame Basketball Senior Guard Jerian Grant scored a career high 26 points as the Irish defeated the Miami (OH) Redhawks, 74-62. The Fighting Irish made 26 of 52 field goals (50%) and hit 47.6% of their 3-point field goals. The Irish had 21 to 7 assist to turnover ratio. This is a benchmark of the Notre Dame Basketball program.
The Irish utilized multiple lineups with 8 players garnering most of the time. The Irish started with Atkins, Grant, Connaughton, Knight and Sherman. Jackson, Burgett and Auguste came off the bench. Beachem and Vasturia made appearances in the final minute of the game.
Notre Dame was outrebounded 30-27. The Redhawks did not have a height advantage over the Fighting Irish. This is a concern going forward for Notre Dame. How will they respond when they face better competition? Some of their issues rebounding were fundamental and can be changed easily in practice.
Notre Dame remains undefeated in November home games under Notre Dame Head Basketball Coach Mike Brey. The Fighting Irish move on to play the Stetson Hatters on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game can be seen on ESPN3 or heard on WatchND. Will Grant put two games back to back? He has only accomplished this task once when he scored the 21 points against Marquette and St. John’s.
