Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Notre Dame Finds New DT Target

2014 Notre Dame Football Recruiting

For two recruiting cycles, Notre Dame has been trying to find a replacement for Louis Nix. Last year, on National Signing Day, the Irish thought that they landed a replacement in Auburn, California product Eddie Vanderdoes. However, Vanderdoes elected to opt-out of his letter of intent and sign with UCLA.

The Irish have swung and missed with prospects so far this year. Notre Dame still has Elizabethtown DT Matt Elam and Brooklyn DT Thomas Holley but neither of these players seem likely to select the Irish at the moment. So, Notre Dame is expanding its target list.

Bellevue High School product Marcus Griffin recently de-committed from Washington State. He is a 3-star prospect. Griffin has offers from Arizona, California, Colorado State, Idaho, Nevada, UTEP, Washington and Wyoming.

Notre Dame recently reached out to Griffin to gage his interest in Notre Dame. According to Justin Hopkins of 247Sports, he is open to new teams.

“I’m open to whoever comes and shows interest. I’m open to everyone and ready to look at things with an open mind,” Griffin told Hopkins.

Griffin is focusing on Cal and Boise State.
