Notre Dame Football
We love Louis Nix because of his light-heartedness. He has endeared himself to Notre Dame fans by becoming “Irish Chocolate” and by wearing #1 as the largest player on the field because “it’s sliming.” But, can we take him seriously when he says he might come back to Notre Dame? Probably not.
Yesterday, Louis Nix told reporters, “It’s up in the air right now. Who knows? I don’t know the future. and I don’t think you guys do, either. It’s something to just keep thinking about. I love this place, and who wouldn’t want to come back for a fifth year at Notre Dame? Hey, half y’all thought I was leaving last year.”
Louis Nix is projected to be a 1st round pick by virtually anyone who creates mock drafts. The consensus seems to be that Nix would go between 10-15 in April’s draft. Nix has several brothers and sisters back home in Jacksonville that could probably use an NFL paycheck. Their current 3-bedroom Jacksonville home has 10 residents.
But, Louis Nix is his own person. He returned this season to fulfill his mother’s dream of getting to see him play on Senior Day. Next Saturday, Nix will accomplish that goal. In December, he will graduate from Notre Dame. As great as it would be for Nix to return to Notre Dame, it is probably time for him to move on.
If he did return, along with Stephon Tuitt, Notre Dame’s outlook for the 2014 season would change immensely. How fun it is dream.
