2014 Notre Dame Recruiting

Nearly two years ago, Alvin Kamara received 105 letters from Alabama. At that time, 105 letters seemed like a lot. This amount has become the mainstream. Recruits compete with each other to see how many letters they can land. Tonight, Notre Dame doubled that number and some.

Notre Dame really needs to replace Nose Guard Louis Nix. One of their top targets is Kentucky Defensive Tackle Matt Elam. Notre Dame sent Elam 262 letters. Elam tweeted, “262 letters Yes You Read Correctly 262 Letters From Notre Dame!! They Are Calling It My #PotOfGold #WorldRecord #ND”

The Fighting Irish have recently stepped up their game thanks to Notre Dame Football Recruiting Analyst JR Sandlin. Sandlin’s job is to help the Irish coaching staff land the top prospects in the nation. He has been sending prospects their “pot o gold” recently.

Matt Elam also announced, via Twitter, that he will make his decision on January 4th, 2014 at the Army All-American Game. He will decide between Notre Dame, Kentucky and Alabama. It is difficult to say where Notre Dame is exactly on that list.

Elam is rated as a 5-star prospect and the 7th best recruit overall in the nation. He checks in at 6’6″ 350 lbs. Landing Elam would be crucial for Notre Dame rebuilding their front 7 for the future.
