Notre Dame Football: Irish Likely To Play Houston In Pinstripe Bowl

2013 Notre Dame Football

With the Big 12 unable to fulfill their allotted bowl bids, Notre Dame will likely grab a return trip to New York City and Yankee Stadium. Of course, Notre Dame could pick any number of bowls and probably have the ability to negotiate a bid from the ACC. But, at the moment, the Pinstripe Bowl seems most likely for the Notre Dame football team.

The game is a matchup between the 7th Big 12 team and the 4th American Athletic Conference team. Six teams will only be eligible for post season play in the Big 12. All other teams have been eliminated from post season play. Houston is currently the 4th team in the AAC. There is virtually no chance that it will shift by the end of the season. Therefore, a matchup against Houston seems imminent.

Notre Dame battled Houston in the 1979 Cotton Bowl when Joe Montana lead the Irish to a 35-34 victory in a frigid Dallas. The temperature may be the same if it is anything like last year’s Pinstripe Bowl between West Virginia and Syracuse.
