Notre Dame Football Recruiting: 2014 TE Dalton Shultz To Visit This Weekend

2014 Notre Dame Football Recruiting

Notre Dame already has one Tight End commitment in Marist High School standout Nic Weishar. However, they are looking to land one more in South Jordan, Utah product Dalton Shultz.

Shultz is rated a 4-star prospect by every single recruiting service. Many consider him one of the top 2 Tight Ends in the country. He checks in at 6’6″ 230.

The main competition for Shultz is Stanford, Utah and Washington.

Stanford is considered to be the leader for Shultz. He recently visited Palo Alto for the Notre Dame-Stanford match up.

With the news today of Steve Sarkisian’s hiring at USC, Washington is probably effectively eliminated. However, USC had already offered Shultz so they may emerge as a player in his recruitment.

Shultz will now visit South Bend this weekend. Notre Dame will have five scholarship Tight Ends in 2014. However, in 2015, that number drops to three scholarship players. The Irish coaching staff would be wise to land a commitment from another Tight End in the 2014 recruiting class.
